A Shadow Day

Look the stick has a shadow!

Something Quietly Happened in our Classroom

We have been occasionally watching a caterpillar change to a chrysalis to a monarch butterfly. We released it on Tuesday, but captured these beautiful photos before it flew away.

 Jesus Time

God is Number One!

This week's Bible story is Genesis 12:1-9.
In this passage the Lord tells Abraham and Sarah they are moving to a new country.
They had many feelings about the move.

A Puddle! We love our rain boots!

Highlights from Thursday and Friday

Thursday Chapel

Mrs. Reed taught us about peace during our chapel time. Even through the storms in life, we have peace because Jesus is with us.

Jesus Time

Our Bible story this week has been about God keeping Noah, his family, and animals safe during the flood. We talked about safe places in our lives.
We feel safe -
in our bedroom hiding under the bed
hiding under blankets and pillows
playing in our bedrooms with our toys
when we put our heads on our pillows
hiding under a chair
next to Mommy
on our daddy's lap
on our mommy's lap

We've also talked about how ...

We are all special! We are all different!
We all have eyes, but they are different colors.
10 children have blue eyes; 6 have brown eyes, and 4 have green eyes.
We all have hair, but it is different colors, too.
7 children have blond hair; 1 has black hair, 10 have brown hair, and 2 have red hair.

Would you rather ...

have a toy spaceship or a toy robot?

All fifteen children were here on Thursday. 10 children wanted a spaceship; 5 children wanted a robot.

eat cake or ice cream?
Out of thirteen children, three children would rather eat ice cream, and 10 children eat cake.

Writing our names for September

Everyone has written their name for the portfolio. When they do this writing, I do not correct pencil grip or help them with letter formation. I want to see what they do without directions. We do talk about those skills at other times during our days together.

Learning to take care of the parakeets

Since the parakeets just eat the seeds on the top, we are learning to skim the leftover seed coverings out of their food dish.

Journals

On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of this week, the children wrote in their journals.
They've added pictures of the parakeets, reminders of fall, and maybe a rainbow to remind them of God's promise to Noah and his family.

Where is the Green Sheep?

We've been reading this book.

In the book we see all types of sheep. There are circus sheep, long sheep, near sheep, far sheep, and all kinds of sheep. So, we decided to draw our own sheep. Here are few from today.

A Beautiful Day for Outside Time

Today's time including lots of climbing, jumping, running, and just having fun with friends!
