Triangles and Topsoil Delivery

 Morning Stations

They created a sea monster, but also enjoyed exploring their reflections.

Whole Group Time

We had such fun singing and dancing as part of our group time.
While they waited for the next song, the children decided to pretend they were sleeping.

When the music started, they jumped up and started dancing.

We had so much fun!

Chapel Time

We begin our chapel with our invocation.
"We begin in the name of the Father, who created us,
In the name of the Son, who died for us, and
In the name of the Holy Spirit who comforts us."

Miss Bethany Andrews told us about a stone she has on her desk. It reminds her of a Bible story in I Samuel 7 when Samuel put a stone on the ground to remind the people that our Lord always helps us.

A Triangle Walk

This week we started noticing triangles.
As we walked to and from chapel, we searched for them.

Can you tell where we were when we took these pictures?

Small Group Time

We read about non-fiction book about reflections and shadows. We also read The Black Rabbit. We just loved it! We read it again after lunch!

Outside Time

Dancing and performing on the stage
(No, he did not get hit with the broom!)

Topsoil Delivery
for the Early Learning Program's new play space

We were able to see this happen three times!
Do you see the triangle?

Learning Centers

Yesterday, the first-eighth graders had their first faith family activity. Their devotion was about being Living Stones, because Jesus is with us. They spent time decorating a stone that was used to create a Living Stone path.

During our learning centers, some children colored stones to add to the path.

Drawing Animals

Morning Group Time

This morning everyone had a story to share, so we got out the talking ball to help us take turns. We also tried saying someone's name and then tossing the ball to that person.

Jesus Time

Today we read Be Still and Know that I Am God, a simple yet beautiful book that reminds us to do just that. We can be still and remember that our God is with us at all times.

Small Group Time

Today the children drew animals for the frames hanging by our entry windows. They used the fancy pens for the black line drawing.

Some of the block structures created during small group time.

The children are so busy developing stories as they play

Easel Painting and More

Whole Group Time

We did the wood piece pokey today. We also tapped the big lines and little lines as we listened to the song, "Tap, Tap, Tap."
(Notice the freshly painted walls?)

Small Groups

Amazing work as everyone had an opportunity to cut and glue.

With Mrs. Lohman the children learned the steps to using the new easel independently.

Step 1: Get a smock.
Step 2: Get a piece of paper.
Step 3: Put your name on the paper.
Step 4: Paint.
Step 5: Move your paper to the drying rack.

These ladies enjoyed their painting experience.

Tornado Drill Practice

One group went into hallway connecting our rooms. Another group was in the bathroom. We know we were just practicing so we are ready.

Jesus Time

We had fun singing, "My God is So Great" and doing a "Go, God!" cheer as we reviewed the creation story.

Cottonball Words and Sandpaper Words

Busy with Morning Stations

Whole Group Time

Learning the names of the wood pieces for Handwriting Without Tears by singing and moving to a special version of Hokey Pokey.

Small Group Time

Before starting, Mrs. Lohman showed how the rubber bands make shapes on the geoboard.
During their independent group, the children created many shapes with their rubber bands.

Cottonball Words and Sandpaper Words

We talked about how some words we say are like cottonballs. Those words feel soft and we enjoy hearing them. Other words are more like sandpaper. They are scratchy and rough feeling. Throughout the rest of the day, we talked about cottonball words and sandpaper words. We also practice using cottonball words with our friends.

Outside Time

Just sitting on the tires in the shade getting to know new friends

Learning Centers

Trying out the new easel
Paint coming soon

Today's structures were long and narrow

Would you like a cookie?
Very nice pattern!

The table by the nap bags is our quiet time table.
Sometimes it is just nice to go over there, rest, and play with the materials.

Friday and Saturday

Our Guest Reader

How wonderful it was to have our special guest today!

She read books during our small group time.

In Our Other Small Group

We talked about what we love in the kitchen area.

With some groups we played dress up. In another group we sorted the cookies they love to play with. We noticed the ones that are the same and how they are different.

Jesus Time

We read a beautifully illustrated book about creation, entitled The Seven Days of Creation illustrated by Leonard Everett Fisher.

Outside Time

What happens when a "wood cookie" is rolled down the slide?
It's great fun!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

The painting crew was great!
Here's a sneak peak of what everyone will see on Monday.
