Hosanna! Hosanna!

Sneaking in a Little Outside Time

We are considering our next area of focus.

Based upon this observation, we may need to study birds. They really love learning the names of different birds. During group time, we read "Have You Heard the Nesting Bird?" and we learned more bird names.

Jesus Time

We acted out the story with Jesus and the donkey walking to Jerusalem as the people sang, "Hosanna! Hosanna!"

A Really Rainy Day

 Between the Raindrops

As we headed to the Commons for some morning movement, we stopped to look at our reflection in the water. We were remembering Mo Willems' book, Pigeon Needs a Bath. One reason he doesn't want to get into the bathtub is the water is "too reflective."

Jesus Time

A Little Palm Sunday Parade
We walked into Mrs. Douglas' room singing,
"Hosanna, Hosanna, the little children sang,
Hosanna, Hosanna to Christ our Lord and King."

Group Time

We read The Kindness Quilt by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. In this book Mrs. Bloom asks her class to draw a picture of someone showing kindness. This project is just the beginning of children noticing acts of kindness.

Fancy Nancy

Can you find all the fancy things she has on?

Well .... then things got exciting!

As we cleaned up, the storm rolled in. We danced to many Go Noodle songs and stayed safe. We decided to stay in our room for lunch because of the rain and thunder and lightening.  So, we prayed for the lunch helper who brought us our hot lunches and we prayed for the storm to stop. And it did! After nap, we ventured outside to the old playground and this is what we found.

Big, Big Puddles

 It was flooded!

We also noticed the reflections of the clouds and trees in the puddles.

And you have to throw things into the water, don't you?

Reconnecting

Outside Before the Rain

Chapel Time

Mrs. Mudd talked about awesome jobs we may want. Then she shared that a most important job is taking care of God's world.

During chapel, offering helpers brought our offerings to our altar.
Thank you, helpers!

Our Jesus Book

Today we created another page for our Jesus Book. The room was quiet as these amazing artists worked to create their page.

Group Time

We talked more about our class rules. This is a great review at this time of year.
We will share them soon.

Welcome Back!

Signs of Spring

Over our break, new plants from the Botanical Gardens were added to our play space. We will have the joy of watching them grow and develop over the next few months. Some children noticed the new growth on the trees. We quickly retrieved the magnifying glasses to capture a closer look.

Reviewing Rules for School

We had many ideas. We will continue to work on them throughout the week.
More details to come...

Jesus Rides into Jerusalem

Just a few of our hard working children as they cut out a palm branch.

These childre are hard at work adding a page to their Jesus Book. This page is about Jesus riding into Jerusalem. People along the road shouted, "Hosanna!"

Free Choice Time

After a break, being able to play with friends at school again is just great fun!

Welcome!

Welcome ... Back from Spring Break!

While we were on break, the season changed!

Welcome Back, Bear!

Since it's spring, we decided it was time for Bear to wake up from his long winter's sleep.

So, first, we sang ....

Bear is sleeping, Bear is sleeping
In his box, In his box,
Wonder when he'll wake up? Wonder when he'll wake up?
In the Spring, in the Spring.

Then, we sang ...

Time to wake up, Time to wake up
Sleepy Bear, Sleepy Bear,
It is springtime. It is springtime.
Wake up now! Wake up now!

We sang this verse a few times, then we moved Bear's box and opened it up!

We took turns giving Bear hugs!

It was wonderful to have him back from hibernation!

 Welcome to our new friend!

We are so thankful our new member of our school family could have her picture taken with Bear!

Our Green Day Color Hunt

On Our Way to the Commons

 In the Commons

Thank you to Mrs. Smith's Second Grade class for sharing their talents with us.
They performed four versions of Cinderella for us.
They performed Mufano's Beautiful Daughters, an African version, Cendrillon, a Caribbean version and The Rough-Faced Girl, a native Amerian Canadian version. The finale was Cinderella, the traditional version.
