Putting Away the Alleluia

Chapel

Ash Wednesday is March 6. During the days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day, our church has a tradition of not saying "Alleluia" as a way to help us remember all the amazing things Jesus did for us. In anticipation of this time of year, Mrs. Helmkamp's chapel talked explained. The wall was decorated with butterflies and Alleluia words.
During our chapel time, she took down all the decorations ...
and place them in a black box.
She also gave us some pictures to color that we can add to the box between now and next Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.

The black box filled with Alleluias will stayed closed from Ash Wednesday until we celebrate that Jesus is alive on Tuesday after Easter.

Jesus Takes Away our Sins!

Today's Structures

The Jelly Beans

The jelly beans are all gone! How long have we been doing this? We counted the days on our calendar. It took 36 school days, with everyone eating one jelly bean a day, to empty the jar!

Jesus Time

Because we sin, we can't get to heaven on our own.

But because of Jesus, we can!
Because of Jesus, our sins are washed away and we will see God, our Father in heaven!
We also told Jesus we were sorry for our sins, the bad things we do and also the things we don't do.

After confessing our sins, we walked on the cross again.
We are forgiven!
We are God's children!

Tuesday, Tuesday

Morning Time

  • A long conversation this morning at our morning meeting - we just chatted about people who need our prayers and our pets.
  • We sang to the birthday girl who shares a birthday with Mrs. Tyler, one of our first grade teachers.

  • We enjoyed playing during choice time. No one played in the kitchen! Our February interviews about love are completed.
  • Everyone had snack at the same time today.

Outside Time

On our way out the door!

One on the Tire
Two on the Tires
Four on the Tires (others thinking they'd like to join the fun)
Six on the Tires with a couple others
Well, now we need everyone!

What a beautiful day!

Jesus Time

This week's story is about a tax collector named Zaccheaus. He was not an honest or kind man, but Jesus still showed him great love. We can do the same thing, show love to all people.

Jelly Beans

They are almost all gone..... how many more days until they are?

Squirrel News

We put out some food again today. We noticed some birds eating the food, but no squirrels. We continue to fine tune what we want to make for the squirrels and how to make it. We need some help with this, so we have a structural engineer expert coming to visit on Friday.  We will be developing questions for him, so we have some design help.

Friday Update

Squirrel Work

Today we made a couple ladders using small PVC pipes and craft sticks. We have some bigger PVC pipes we want to add.

A small group went outside to work on the playground, but it was kind of cold and windy for our work. We decided to continue our building on Monday.

Outside Time

By our camera helper

We noticed this bird of prey gliding through the sky over us.

Buddy Class

Our buddy class, the sixth graders, visited our class today.

First, they read us stories.
Then, we played Get to Know You BINGO.

Outside Time!!

Other Happenings

The swimming pool, beach, park!
An interesting block building phenomenon....
They used the block to build their tower. The block came out but the tower didn't fall.
How did that happen?
