Maundy Thursday

Chapel

We started our day with chapel. Everyone from
preschool through eighth grade was there.
Mr. Debrick gave us a special message on serving
others.

Then we processed to the commons where the
early childhood children had a special service.
We were not able to go to the play space and
close the tomb (tunnel), so we had our service
in the commons. We sang "Do you know who
died for me" and other songs. Each child then had
the chance to walk up to the rock and draw a cross.

Inside Movement

We had our movement breaks inside again today.
We are ready for the rain to go away so we can be outside
and use our play space. But we love the scooters and Go
Noodle dancing too.

Center Time

During centers many of the children were using their
imaginations to build a zoo and role playing all of the
people in a house. They were working well together
and building their friendships. We will miss being
together over Spring Break!

Have a wonderful Easter and a fantastic Spring Break!

Happy Wednesday!

Jesus Time

We have been using eggs to tell the story of
Holy Week. Today we got to open the next
egg. It had a cross on it. We are remembering the
story of Good Friday. The children also acted
out the story.

Reader's Theatre

This morning we made a trip down to Mrs. Tyler's
class to watch the first graders perform The Giant Turnip
and Little Red Riding Hood.

Inside Play

We went to the commons again this morning
to run around and play on the scooters. We also
used our imaginations in the classroom for play time.
Some of our friends even painted the stone we will use
tomorrow to seal the tomb (the tunnel on our play space).

Rain, Rain, Go Away! We want to go outside to play!

Small Groups

Mrs. Lohman's small group talked more about
spirals and screws. We cut our own out of paper plates.
Some were long, some were short, but we all made one.

In small group with Miss Stirtz, we watercolored
crosses. We first drew on them with a white crayon,
and then we painted to see if the white would show.
It did! We couldn't see it before, but now we could.

Movement

We spent our time moving in different ways today.
We spent our first break in the commons running
and getting out some energy.

Before lunch we took time to have a Go Noodle
dance break. We were moving and grooving.

Gloomy Monday

Morning Work

This morning children worked with pattern
blocks. They built towers out of the colored
blocks and measured how tall they were.

Small Groups

In small group with Mrs. Lohman the children looked at screws
and all the different parts. They sorted them, lined them up by
size, and even made the spirals like on the screw, out of wires.

In small group with Miss Stirtz, we continued to talk
about Palm Sunday. Today we painted our own palm
branches after we looked at and felt the real ones.

Jesus Time

Today we talked about Good Friday. We read the
story from the Beginner's Bible, and then Zippy came
for a visit. We made a cross out of our names. It is
not a sad cross like the one that Jesus died on, but instead
a happy cross, becuase he loves us so much that he
died to save all of us from our sins!

Center Colors

During center time today, many of the children
were using colors to brighten up this gloomy day.
We had colored patterns, cupcakes, glitter, jewels, and
even colored legos made into stairs.
