The beans are pushing through the soil.

What we've noticed about our seeds/plants

The seeds cracked open.

They sprout, but they don't grow (the lima bean).

Some are still growing, they have the seed coat on them.

The cat grass is the tallest.

The plant in the bottle are super big. It grew faster. Maybe it got a lot of water.

They are coming out of the dirt.

We have loved playing in the tent and napping in it.

Predicting

On Friday we predicted which seeds will sprout first.

Looks like we feel marigolds will be first!

We've started our plant journals.

As our plants grow, we'll be documenting our observations.

It looks like the marigolds are sprouting first!

Tuesday

More marigold growth; some cat grass; not too many beans yet.

The Helicopter Seeds!

We collected "helicopter seeds" on Tuesday.

On Wednesday we made spirals and then added the seeds to recreate the moment.

We talked about the parts of the seed -

This happened ...

while Mrs. Cruz and I finished cleaning up this morning, the children decided how they would sit today.

Then, they decided to rub each others backs.

Planting Seeds

The children planted marigold, bean, pea, and/or catgrass seeds.

They put potting soil in starter pots, planted the seeds, and watered them.

Now, we wait again.

How long will it be before they sprout?

Which seeds will sprout first?

Seeds and Snow

Seeds

We started talking about seeds on Monday.

We are learning that seeds are all shapes and sizes. 

We started planting a few today.

The children are planting either peas, beans, or marigolds.

They will keep a journal of their observations.
