What's Happening?

 Not a Stick

After reading Not a Stick, we are creating a "Not a Stick."
Some of us painted our sticks.
Some of us covered our stick with paper.
Our creations will be in our portfolios.

Not a Box

That was so much fun, we are also making "Not a Box" creations.
So, far we have quite a few race cars!

Jesus Time

When reading the Pentecost story, we noticed an angry man in one of the pictures.
Who was that angry man?
We learned his name was Saul.
He didn't like the people who were sharing the Great Good News about Jesus.
As Saul was walking to Damascus, a bright light knocked him down.
Jesus spoke to him from heaven asking him why he was being so mean.
Then, Saul was blind for three days!
Afterward he realized Jesus was the son of God!
He started preaching the Great Good News!
He was so changed, his name was changed to Paul.

Taking Walks in the Rain

We paused to admire the beautiful rose bushes in front of our school.
We noticed the fence and wondered why it was there.
We noticed the cross on the steeple and wondered why the cones are on the parking lot.

Block Designs

with our bigger unit blocks and ...

our table blocks.

Other Happenings

Talks about summer time
Lots of singing and dancing to our favorite songs
Mrs. Lohman playing a kazoo!
More assessments - great opportunities to celebrate growth and learning
All of our birthday globes are finished!
Reading Henry and Mudge books
Continuing our estimation jar every morning - we are practicing writing numerals and our name
Wednesday's number was 10. After we counted the "blue sticks", Mrs. Lohman took away a few sticks. Then we had to figure out how many sticks she took away.
