Our Jelly Bean Experiment

We listened to the "Jelly Bean Blues" again today. The song is about someone who leaves some jelly beans in his pocket and they melt into a "big blob of goo." We are wondering if jelly beans really do that, so we started an experiment. During our morning meeting, we chose eight jelly beans, a few of our least favorite flavors, and put them in the pocket of an old pair of jeans. Then, we put the jeans outside in the sun on one of the benches.

We checked them as we walked to the playground, after lunch, and after naptime. After naptime, we took them out of the pocket to see how they were doing. They were definitely not a big blob of goo, but they were "hot" and softer. We pulled one apart and notice it was softer on the inside. "Something is happening on the inside." Mrs. Lohman is bringing them inside for the night. We'll continue the experiment tomorrow.

Jelly Bean Blues

The children were introduced to a new song today, "Jelly Bean Blues," in connection with eating 2-4 jelly beans each day once again. (Mrs. Haun bought us a new container.) We are wondering if jelly beans really do melt into a blob of goo. An experiment will be starting soon.

Jesus Time

The story of Pentecost is this week's story. The disciples were afraid and were waiting in their room. While the doors were closed, there was a rushing wind and the disciples had flames of fire on their heads. The Holy Spirit filled their hearts! They were not afraid any longer! They were ready to tell the Great Good News! Jesus is alive! And we will live forever!

Surprise Visitors

Mrs. Smith's kindergarten class stopped in and we sang our theme song for the school year, "Go!", together. A fun, quick dance party!

Gym Time

We went to the gym for a short time. On the way back we just kept turning and zigzagging through the commons and in the hallway. One student said we were going in circles. We had fun giggling along the way.

Jesus Time

Zippy, our puppet, visited. He shared a sad/happy story about his grandma going to Florida for three weeks. He was sad because she was going away, but happy because she'll be back in three weeks. This reminded us of the Ascension story. Jesus told the disciples he was leaving, but he would return. 

Our Bulbs

After four weeks of observing our bulbs, we took one last look to compare them. One of the bulbs had only grown a one inch shoot; one was almost 17 inches tall. Most of the shoots were between 7 and 9 inches tall. Some children brought their's home today. The bulbs can be planted outside. Sometime this summer your family will enjoy some beautiful gladiolus.

Pigion

Mo Willem's the Pigeon joined us for storytime today. Mrs. Lohman read three Pigeon books, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, The Pigeon Finds a Hotdog, and Pigeon Needs a Bath.

Jesus Takes Care of Us

Chapel Day

We loved helping Mrs. Kulhmann, one of our third grade teachers, tell the story of the disciples going fishing after Jesus rose. Jesus was still teaching them that He continues to takes care of them. We are reminded that He will always take care of us.
