Amazing Leaves!

A Spontaneous Experiment

One of the leaves brought in on Friday was really curled up.
We wondered if it would float.
Mrs. Cruz got us a tub and some water.
It floated!
But we quickly noticed water seeping into the leaf.

Look at it now!
From stem to point it's 17 unifix cubes long!

More Leaves and God's Tabernacle

 Leaves

Yesterday we collected a bunch of sycamore leaves.
Today we painted them!

Tomorrow - More painting and pictures of where they are hanging!

God's Tabernacle

Our Bible story this week teaches us about the tabernacle God told the people of Israel to build.
It was a beautiful tent for God's people to worship.
The tabernacle had three parts.
First, the outer court which is like our front and back yards
In the outer court we placed a wash basin and an altar for burnt offerings.
What do these two objects remind us of?
The building inside is called the Holy Place.
Inside the Holy Place we put a golden lampstand and an altar for incense.
We also added a table with bread.

The last area was the Most Holy Place.
In the Most Holy Place we placed the ark of the covenant.
The tabernacle was God's special home.
After we placed all the pieces we decorated it with beautiful jewels from our classroom.

We will talk more about God's special home on Thursday and Friday.
We will also talk more about how all these items remind us of what Jesus did for us.

Hedge Apples

What's in the bag?

rocks? a rolling boulder? something round and bumpy?
What does it look like?
bumpy
spiky
brownish, green

It looks like ...
a gumball
broccoli
an apple
a baseball
pinata

It has shiny sticky spots.

Examining it closely with a jeweler's eye!

But what is on the inside?
a hedgehog?
a rock?
a huge rock?

We need to decide what is next as we explore these unique creations.

Leaves!

 The Leaves Have Fallen Down!

The Scavenger Hunt leaves are gradually coming back to school!
Perfect!

After we talk about our collection with the whole group, we measure our biggest one.

This is the biggest one so far!
After closely examining our favorite leaf,
we draw it with our fancy black marker.
Soon, we will paint our drawings.

Lots of Leaves!

Such wonderful fun!

FALL - Didn't want to change the theme!

The Little Old Who Swallowed Some Leaves

What a wonderful surprise! Mrs. Haun read this fun book to use!

We loved it!
Then we had fun playing some of our Harvest party games.

"Mrs. Lohman, look at the moon!"

Time for some more leaf tossing pictures!

Have a great weekend!
