The Second Week of Advent

Light One Candle for Peace

Two candles are lit on the Advent wreath this week and only two weeks until Christmas Day. During Jesus time, our circle time area was darkened. The curtains were closed and the lights turned off. We pretended we were in a dark field with shepherds watching over our sheep.  Suddenly, an angel appeared in the sky with the wonderful news that Jesus, God's Son, was born. Then, a big group of angels appeared singing, "Glory to God in the Highest." We turned our lights back on and thought about how strange it must have been for the dark sky to be filled with light.

Gingerbread Man Books

Last week we read these five Gingerbread Man books. On Friday and today three groups worked on their own gingerbread man version. They will be the writers and the illustrators.

Learning Centers

These two purchased some trees and ribbon from the Christmas Store.
Then they had a great time decorating them!
