Corn and More Rock Exploration

Morning Activity
Children busy shucking the corn and then removing the kernels.
Wow! They were very fast workers.

Outside Time
Ready! Set! Go!
Today many children enjoyed running down the ramp and jumping into the rock pit.

The Second Geode
Before breaking open the geode, we described it. We also wondered how the inside would compare to the one we opened yesterday.

With one direct hit with the hammer, Mr. Marolf broke the geode open into many pieces.

The plate on the top is today's geode; the one on the bottom is Monday's.
How are they the same? Different?

Going on a Rock Hunt!
Ten children with clipboards in hand ready to search for rocks.
(The rest of the class will go on a rock hunt on Wednesday.)
The "top of that (the building) is made of rock."
Standing on rocks was pretty fun!

They touched the spikey rocks at the entrance to our school.

They made noise as they walked on these bigger rocks.

When we came inside, they drew a picture of what something they remembered from our Rock Hunt.
One of our classroom rocks was carefully painted with water. A wet rock looks different than a dry rock.
