Solar Eclipse Day

Morning Stations

What can you make with clothes pins and craft sticks?
Many skills practiced with this activity.
Students develop their confidence and are inventive. They also develop
logical thinking and practice representing ideas through art and construction.

Whole Group Time

We practiced greeting our friends as we gave each other a hand shake. We only used our right hand to give a hand shake.

 Solar Eclipse Anticipation

During our small group time, we read My Shadow by Robert Lewis Stevenson. The illustrations of shadows are wonderful. Then we looked at our own shadows outside.

Too Hot

Some children continued to play around our hill and in the tunnel.

But after playing awhile, some just enjoyed sitting in the shadow of the pavilion and creating with chalk.

A busy group of learners

And then there was the Solar Eclipse!

As the children settled down for nap, the room kept getting darker and darker. There were interesting shadows through the trees. We watch pictures of the eclipse on the live feed from NASA.

After nap, children drew pictures of the solar eclipse. These are two awesome examples.
