Pumpkins and Apples

Chapel

Today chapel was in the sanctuary. Miss Bethany told us the story of when Jesus and his family went to the temple church in Jerusalem. She told us we were in God's house today. When we are in His house, we worship, sing, pray, say "thank you," and listen.

Since it's October we sang our new song for the month. "My God is So Great."

Searching for the Letter F

As we walked to chapel, these are just a few of the "F"s we saw.

Then at lunch we started seeing a lot more!

What will the pumpkin look like?

Mr. Lohman just returned from a trip to a farm in Silver Creek, New York. While visiting the farm, he picked a pumpkin just for our class. Today we wondered what the pumpkin will look like. We said:
It is ...
orange and round with a stem.
yellow and bumpy.
a baby pumpkin.
going to have seeds in it.
soft.
colorful.
blue.
a triangle.
The stem may be brown, green, or orange.

Then we drew pictures of what we think the pumpkin will look like.
Here are a few of our creations.

The pumpkin will come to school on Thursday and we will be able to compare our descriptions and pictures with the real pumpkin.

Apples

Today after lunch we read I Am an Apple by Jean Marzollo and The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons. We talked about the life cycle of the apple and remembered we have talked about the life cycle of chickens and eagles. Some children drew apple trees in their journals after naptime.
