Practicing Writing Letters

Today the children learned about writing upper case letters using special chalkboards. Mrs. Lohman wrote the letter F on their board.

Then the children followed a three step process in practicing the letter.

They wrote over the letter using a wet sponge.

Then they wrote the letter with their finger.

Then they wrote the letter with chalk.

After the first letter, they practice other letters.

Apples and Pumpkins

Today we read two books before nap. We read Apples and Pumpkins by Anne Rockwell and Apples by Samantha Berger and Betsey Chessen. Apples and Pumpkins has simple, beautiful illustrations and Apples is a counting book using paintings of apples by various artists.

After nap, these books inspired our journal entries.
